Jason Halpern is from a third generation real estate development family with a stellar track record of more than 50 years constructing and managing numerous properties throughout the New York metropolitan area. As principal of JMH Development, Jason’s experience, infused with his vision and foresight, have led to the acquisition and development of several innovative and pioneering properties including several historically significant landmarked buildings. JMH is developing a 140 unit multifamily building in Long Island City, Queens along with a boutique condominium in the Landmark District of Brooklyn Heights. In Miami, JMH is in pre-development on a 55 unit waterfront condominium in Surfside. His most notable recently completed projects are 184 Kent Avenue, a 338 unit landmarked redevelopment on the Williamsburg, Brooklyn waterfront, and the Aloft Hotel South Beach, a 239 key Starwood hotel located in the heart of South Beach. What differentiates Jason from other developers is his passion and niche for building in historic districts. He builds rapport within the cities in which he builds, and is sensitive to the historic aspects of JMH Development’s historically significant properties. “Respecting the community in which you develop” is a guiding principal for both Jason and his company.
Jason is committed to allotting his personal time and resources to charitable endeavors in his community. He is heavily invested in the Joel A. Halpern Trauma Center at Westchester Medical Center. A Level I Trauma Center, it has the talent and facilities to offer open-heart surgery, complex emergency neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, as well as the reattachment of severed limbs. The center also cares for burn victims, individuals with multiple life-threatening internal injuries, pregnant women and children, and more. Jason has also brought his passion for philanthropy to the workplace, enacting charitable initiatives through JMH Development. In 2015, JMH launched an innovative partnership with the global water non-profit charity: Water, donating $20,000 of every contract signed at the developer’s Miami-based Three Hundred Collins residential development to fund water projects in Ethiopia and Nepal. Through two charities: Water’s partners on the ground, the Relief Society of Tigray and Splash, JMH Development is bringing clean, safe water to more than 650 Ethiopian and Nepalese locals. Most recently, Jason began working with a reading program called MaxScholar Orton Gillingham, where he oversees the program for struggling readers in two schools in New York where students live below the poverty level. Further, Jason is an active participant in Community of Unity, an organization that strives to impact New York City’s urban youth through numerous initiatives such as holistic, social emotional learning programs, professional developmental programs and school networks.
Today, Jason remains involved and dedicated to using his expertise in real estate development to benefit those around him.
